Chantal Machabée is a true pioneer in Quebec sports journalism. At just 24 years old, she was already making history by becoming the first woman to host a daily French-language sports news program in Quebec. At a time when the sports world was still largely dominated by men, she dared to take her place, establish herself through her talent and pave the way for an entire generation of women who would follow.

For more than three decades, Chantal has done far more than cover sports: she has become a leading figure in Quebec sports journalism. Her passion, credibility, professionalism and personality have made her a beloved figure among the public and a highly respected professional among her peers.

Her remarkable career has been recognized with numerous prestigious honours, including a Gémeaux Award in 1998 for Best Sports Television Newscast, the Larry Fredericks Media Award in 2023, and the National Assembly of Quebec Medal of Honour in 2024.

In 2022, following an outstanding 32-year career at RDS, Chantal took on a new challenge as Vice President, Communications for the Montreal Canadiens—a historic appointment that reflects the exceptional place she has earned for herself in the world of hockey.
